What to do in an accident | learnr™

If you are involved in an accident, you and the other party must exchange the following details:

  • Your name & address
  • Vehicle owners name & address
  • Registration number of the car

The accident must be reported to your insurance company, and if you are unable to / don't exchange details then the accident must be reported to the police within 24 hours of the accident.

If you were not at fault, you may wish to consider contacting a solicitor to obtain compensation.

If you are involved in an accident with another driver, and they are ininsured, you should report the accident to the police, and your insurer. Compensation is available to victims of hit-and-run and uninsured drivers through the MIB.
