Car care & Car maintenance | learnr™
Looking after your car is important, you need to keep it well maintained, and if the car is an older car, as most drivers' first cars will be, you should do weekly checks.
Maintenance & Weekly checks
As well as regular checks, don't forget about your windscreen - it is a legal requirement to keep it clean (and subsequently your screenwash levels appropriately topped up too), and beware of any chips of cracks. Autoglass® can repair chips often free of charge, without affecting your no-claims if you are on a comprehensive policy.
- Oil level - check the oil level against the indicator markings explained in your cars manual.
- Tire pressre - are your tires correctly inflated (it saves on petrol too if they are!).
- Tire tred depth - another legal requirement, make sure you have enough tred on your tires to prevent skidding.
- Check the spare too!
- Break fluid level
- Power steering fluid
- Water level
- Screenwash fluid level
- Lights in working order?
- Check your de-misters too, you don't want to be caught out if your car suddenly steams up inside!
Keep a regular check on these, and you can help keep your car running smoothly.
